Beijing, July 16, 2025 – The "11th International Conference on Law and Economics: Law and Economics in the New Era," jointly organized by the Office of Scientific Research and the Institute for Law and Economics of the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), was successfully held at the Auditorium on the Xueyuan Road Campus from July 12th to 13th.

Over one hundred distinguished scholars and experts from various jurisdictions including China, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia engaged in in-depth dialogue on frontier issues concerning legal and economic development in the new era.

Professor Yu Fei, Vice President of CUPL, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. He highlighted that since its establishment two decades ago, the Institute for Law and Economics has consistently adhered to its interdisciplinary orientation, continuously producing high-level scientific research achievements and cultivating a significant number of interdisciplinary legal talents. The Institute has achieved outstanding results in internationalization, with its eleven consecutive international conferences becoming a prominent global brand for Law and Economics research. He expressed his hope that participants would forge consensus through intellectual exchange and contribute wisdom to China's modernization of the rule of law and its high-quality economic development.

During the keynote session, esteemed scholars presented specialized reports on critical topics. These included Professor Li Shuguang (CUPL), Professor Jonathan Klick (University of Pennsylvania), Professor Yun-Chien Chang (Cornell University), Professor Andreas Engert (President of the German Law and Economics Association), Professor Giovanni Ramello (President of the Italian Association of Law and Economics), Professor Hans Tjio (National University of Singapore), alongside academics from the University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Renmin University of China. Their presentations covered a diverse range, including legislative assessment of the Private Sector Promotion Law, paradigm shifts in Law and Economics research, European data rights protection, and the application of artificial intelligence in judicial mediation.

Parallel sessions and a dedicated Young Scholars Forum featured academic presentations and exchanges centered on key themes such as "Foundational Theories of Law and Economics," "Law and Finance," "Economic Analysis of Judicial Systems," "Economic Analysis of Government Regulation," "Economic Analysis of Data Governance," and "Economic Analysis of Antitrust Law."

This international conference established a high-level academic dialogue platform spanning disciplines and jurisdictions. It facilitated the exchange and mutual learning of cutting-edge global research in Law and Economics, laying a solid foundation for establishing a world-class, interdisciplinary legal research hub with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
